As you know, our goal is to get you jammin’ along at the very next hootenanny, so we’re picking the musical keys here that are most likely to occur when you want to play along with stringed instruments.
In other words, when you next encounter that sing-along with everyone hollerin’ away on the great song “Wagon Wheel,” the odds are very good that they’ll be singing in one of the most common keys in all of folk music, “Concert A.” So do not be intimidated by the number of key signatures! Five sharps may look strange but only at first. Concert A is the key of B for the trumpet, so practice that chord along with these arpeggios and you will be good to go.
