Description
When you hear flowing fiddle tunes on the banjo, or scales that race up and down the neck with buttery ease, the chances are you are listening to the Melodic Style of playing. This approach to the banjo uses a clever approach of alternating from string to string to allow for scalar passages without the choppiness of Single String playing, and was developed and popularized independently by Bobby Thompson and Bill Keith in the early 1960s. Watch this documentary with Tony Trischka and Bill Keith to get a better understanding of the evolution of this powerful banjo style.
A working knowledge of the Melodic Style is crucial to being a modern banjo player, as well as playing fast fiddle tunes and melody lines. This exhaustive and enjoyable lesson covers everything you will ever need top know about learning and using the Melodic Style, from the basic cross-string theory to one and two octave scales, and even slick Melodic Style licks that will add flair to your playing. Be a complete banjo player, get started on the Melodic Style today!

Read what Craig said. The only thing I can add is that Craig is right.

It would be easy to think, “Are these lessons really worth how much $$ he is asking?” The answer is absolutely yes… probably worth much more. If you aren’t already familiar with the content of the video, you will spend multiple hours working through each lesson before you feel even somewhat confident with the material. And once you do have the material down, you will be a much more versatile banjo player. Buy the lessons individually or buy a membership. You won’t be disappointed.
