Your average banjo picker can navigate smoothly from chord to chord in a jam, but the real ninjas throw in licks that connect the chords and add spice to the song. This awesome trick is known as "Passing Licks", and they are even cooler when you use the Melodic Style to pull them off. Here then, are three classic Melodic Style licks that you can use to move between the most popular chord changes: G to C, G to D, and D back to G. Once you get these three hot licks under your belt, you can literally use them in hundreds of different songs, because so many songs use these changes.
In this lesson we go over each lick note-for-note, and then loop them for practice, and finally we give you a backing track to play them yourself in a real jam. So, get this lesson queued up and learn this licks, they will add sparkle and pizzazz to your playing and open up the door to combining the Melodic Style with your Scruggs playing, which is the future of banjo playing :-)
