Whether or not this tune actually has much to do with Saint Anne (basically Jesus's grandmother), it is nonetheless one of the more beautiful and melodic tunes in the fiddlers repertoire. In their banjo arrangement we explore a little known tuning for the banjo called "drop 5th tuning", where we tune the 5th string down a 1.2 step to F#, thereby giving us a sweet ringing tone for the key of D. Drop 5th tuning is one of the two tunings where we alter the 5th string to play in D, the other being the "High A" or aDGBD.
