Salt River, AKA "Salt Creek", is definitely one of those must-know fiddle tunes. Bill Monroe and His Bluegrass Boys recorded this fiddle tune in 1964 with legendary banjo picker Bill Keith, who had learned the tune from his banjo guru Don Stover. We tell you this bit of history to explain why this tune has the dubious distinction of being a "banjo tune", and is usually played way too fast :-)  In any case, you ought to learn it, because you can only avoid it for so long and this version is both easy to play and fancy enough to keep even the most ADD banjoist from getting bored.

Still working through it. trying to get that pull off in the second measure. Tricky to get it clean but I’m making progress. Good lesson.
